In November 2020, HolonIQ announced our first annual Australia-New Zealand EdTech 50 — a list of the 50 most promising education technology startups across the region.

There are approximately 750 EdTech companies across Australia and New Zealand supporting learners, teachers, schools, institutions and companies to positively impact educational outcomes, support access to learning and increase the efficiency of educational processes and systems.

The HolonIQ Australia-New Zealand EdTech 50 recognises the most promising EdTech teams based in Australia and New Zealand, and helps to shine a light on innovation across the market, the robustness of the ecosystem, and the collaboration between EdTech companies and education institutions.

The composition of the 2020 ANZ EdTech 50 identifies strong teams across all sectors and particularly in K12 and Higher Education. Given the historical strength in the use of technology in teaching and delivery, it’s not surprising to see many EdTech teams that are supporting institutions with education management, communication and analytics systems, as well as a strong focus on digital content solutions.  Language learning and assisting international students features along with strong STEAM and Coding teams.  In the Workforce learning segment, digital skill development, mentoring software and experiential learning solutions feature.
